For over 90 years, Youtheatre has been a place where young artists in the Fort Wayne area can explore their creativity, build confidence, and grow both on stage and off. Through our classes, camps, and productions, we’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of youth and families—helping them discover their talents, pursue their passions, and connect with a supportive artistic community.

I truly cannot express how much I’ve grown during my time at Youtheatre. I’ve certainly grown into my skin and I’ve never felt so loved and appreciated in a community than I have in this one.
Before rehearsals of Louisa May Alcott, I told everyone that I was looking forward to my granddaughter Lucie seeing me in a new way. Seeing me as a writer, a member of the arts community, someone respected by the people she respects in and around Fort Wayne Youtheatre. But what I didn't expect was that I saw Lucie in a new way, too. She was funny, and not just naturally funny which I always knew,but she had great comic timing. Her expressions, the way she delivered her lines--a total revelation. She'd been a Youtheatre student for more than four years but because of COVID, I hadn't seen her perform at the end of semester showcases. She was so good, and I was so proud. It was a great experience for both of us, and I'll always be grateful that we got to share that together.
In the summer of 2020, I began an internship at Fort Wayne Youtheatre. I had done shows there for almost 7 years at the time, so I felt it was time to take on more responsibilities. I learned how to sew, use power tools, and to my excitement they allowed me to start teaching at their classes and camps. Eventually that led to me becoming assistant director to some of their mainstage productions. Over the past year and a half, I’ve worked with kids from ages 3-18, and I learned so much about how to be a leader from each and every one of them.
