The Fort Wayne Youtheatre's mission is to educate, engage, and entertain regional youth and families through theatre arts.

Youtheatre presents Mainstage, Studio Series, and On-the-Go productions throughout the academic year. We are always looking for aspiring actors ages 9 and up, although some shows may have varying age requirements. All audition details — including dates, requirements, and how to sign up — are available right here on our website.

Interested in Stage Management? Students grades 7-12 may submit an application to express their interest! Scroll to the bottom of this page to access the most current application.

Youtheatre utilizes time slots for our auditions to ensure we’re making the best use of everyone’s time! Select the time slot that works best for your schedule and plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before your audition slot begins so we may start on time. Please only sign up for one time slot!

Who Can Audition?

  • Children 9-18 and adults if specified. Children must be able to read from a script when prompted.
  • No prior acting experience is necessary. We welcome everyone from beginners to advanced!

How Do I Audition for a Youtheatre Show?

  • Choose which show you would like to audition for.
  • Check your schedule to make sure you can fulfill the time commitment.
  • Reserve your audition time-slot (Note: you only have to come one of the days)
  • Print and fill out the Audition form and bring it to the auditions.
  • If you plan on filling this out at the audition, please arrive 10-15 minutes early, and have your conflicts readily available.​
  • Review Audition materials to prepare for your audition.

What Is the Audition Process Like?

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled time.
  • If you did not register online in advance, please arrive earlier to complete a paper audition form.
  • Check in with a Youtheatre Staff Member where you will be assigned a number.
  • You will have your photo taken by a Youtheatre audition assistant. This is to help the directors in the casting process.
  • We will call groups by your assigned number. Remember to bring your filled form with you.
  • In the audition room, you will be asked to read from the script sides provided in the Audition Packet.
  • That’s it! Remember to have fun and enjoy yourself. We will notify you if you have been selected for callbacks via e-mail or phone and will post a full cast list by the communicated time!

What Is the Time Commitment?

  • Rehearsals:
    • Mainstage Shows: Rehearsals are held Monday-Friday from 4:30-6:30pm for 4-5 weeks.
    • Youtheatre On-the-Go Shows: Rehearsals are 2-3 days a week from 4:30-6:30pm.
  • Tech Week:
    • Mainstage Shows: Tech Week (rehearsals the week of the show) go from 4:30-7:30pm and are mandatory along with every show.
    • Youtheatre On-the-Go Shows: Do not have a Tech Week, just normal rehearsals 2 days a week.
  • These shows are toured throughout Fort Wayne we ask that you have availability for all shows.
  • School Performances will be done for our mainstage shows. Students will be given excuse forms to present to their schools excusing their absence.

We’re seeking organized, hard-working, collaborative, and creative individuals to help support productions from auditions through closing night.
